South Shore train delayed by mechanical problem

LAPORTE CO., Ind. -- A mechanical problem delayed a South Shore train on Friday.

Passengers who were headed to Chicago were forced to switch trains in Michigan City.

An ABC 57 Producer was on the train at the time. The conductor told her the first train car lost power. Then, they truned off the lights and air conditioning.

We called officials in South Bend on Friday afternoon, who confirmed the mechanical issue.

The train was expected to arrive in Chicago about 20 minutes late.
