South Shore trains switching to bus services in anticipation of extreme cold
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Shore Line will be transporting passengers via bus this weekend due to predicted extreme cold weather.
Beginning after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, buses will be running between the South Bend International Airport and Michigan City Carroll Ave. instead of trains.
Buses are scheduled to run Saturday evening and all day Sunday.
Weather conditions will be reexamined on Sunday, Feb. 14.
The following trains will be bused between South Bend and Carroll Ave. this weekend:
- Saturday, Feb. 13
- EB Tr 509 and Tr 511
- WB Tr 510
- Sunday, Feb. 14
- WB Trains 502, 504, 506, 508, and 510
- EB Trains 503, 505, 507, 509, and 511
- The following trains will be canceled: EB Tr 701 & Tr 703
Service is suspended to and from Hudson Lake while the bus service is being used.
Hudson Lake passengers are asked to board at Carroll Ave. Station for train service.
Westbound passengers should board buses immediately north of the South Shore platform at the Airport and re-board South Shore trains at Carroll Ave.
Eastbound passengers will get off the train at Carroll Ave. and board buses for the remainder of their trip.
