Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra returns with summer concerts
ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra is bringing music back this summer with pop-up concerts and their 2021 Summer Beach Series.
Summer Beach Series
The concerts will also introduce the four finalists for the Orchestra’s next Music Director. Each concert will be led by the finalists:
(Re-) United States Celebration
- Saturday, July 3
- Directed by finalist Grant Harville
Belting Out Broadway
- Saturday, July 17
- Directed by finalist Matthew Aubin, featuring Detroit vocalist and band leader, Nicole New
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
- Saturday, July 24
- Directed by finalist Rachel Waddell, featuring The GhostLight Theatre
Cowboys, Spaceships, and More!
- Saturday, August 14
- Directed by finalist Timothy Verville
Tickets are $30 for reserved seating, $20 for lawn seating, $10 for children 12 and under lawn seating, and $350 for tables, which includes 10 tickets and two parking passes. The Orchestra is also offering "Summer Beach Passes" for $65 each, which includes four lawn seating tickets to any of the Beach Series concerts.

SMSO Pop-up Concerts
The SMSO Pop-up Concerts, which debuted last year, will return this June and August.
These pop-up concerts will feature chamber groups made up of SMSO members performing at local outdoor venues.

- Friday, June 25
- 6:30 p.m.
- Berrien County Historical Association
- Fridays in August
- 4 p.m.
- Krasl Art Center
These pop-up concerts are free but donations for the orchestra are welcome.
Some COVID-19 guidelines will be in place this summer.
