Speedboat collides with row boat at Keeler Lake Saturday

Keeler Fire & Rescue and Van Buren County Deputies responded to a report of a boating accident on Keeler Lake in Keeler Township Saturday.

The incident happened around 1:00 p.m.

A couple from Dowagiac, Michigan had been fishing on the lake when a speed boat hit their row boat. 

According to officials, the driver of the 18-foot Ski Nautique Inboard speedboat did not see the small row boat anchored in the water and collided with it.

The force of the impact threw the two occupants from the row boat into the water.

Bystanders saw what happened and rescued the man and woman from the water and took them to shore for medical help.

All victims involved in the boating accident made it to shore when officials arrived.

Four people including a child were involved with the incident.

The 67-year-old female and 51-year-old male from the row boat both suffered minor injuries and were treated at Lakeland Hospital.
