Spooky cupcakes
My hands are colored red. Every surface is covered in a thin white veil of powder.
No this is not a horror story, it is just a description of my kitchen this morning after a marathon of baking!
(Whenever I make red velvet, somehow the food coloring gets all over my hands! And, the powder is just powdered sugar) Normally I clean as I bake, but today there were just too many dishes to keep up!
Our station had a Halloween party, and I was asked to make cupcakes. Originally I was just going to make red velvet. And, then I decided to step it up a notch.
In all I made about seven dozen cupcakes. Yes, I wrote the correctly. I baked and decorated about 80 cupcakes in just under 5 hours. Let me tell you, I have a whole new respect for those folks on Cupcake Wars!
I decided to go with a Halloween theme:
Red Velvet "eyeballs"
Chocolate dirt pudding "graveyards"
Funfetti "Aliens"
and Pumpkin Spice with brown butter buttercream frosting.
So far the response has been a treat!
(Let me know if you want any of the recipes!)
