Spring Forward: Hundreds volunteer to beautify abandoned homes

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- This weekend, about 600 people volunteered their time to make a big difference in communities that need it most. 


It is no secret that South Bend has a hundreds of abandoned and vacant homes; one group of volunteers is working to turn those homes into works of art.   



The Neighborhood Resources Corporation partened with local artist, Chris Stackowicz and a number of other volunteers including PNC Bank, Indiana University South Bend, Muessel Primary Center, and Deputy Mayor Mark Neal to paint murals on plywood.



On Sunday, the murals were placed in the windows and doorways of 45 abandoned homes in South Bend.
