Spring leaf pickup not available in the City of Niles
NILES, Mich. -- The City of Niles wants to remind residents there is no spring leaf pickup.
Several residents throughout the city have raked their leaves curbside in preparation for pickup. However, the city will not resume leaf pickup until November.
The city has attempted to notify the approximately 40 homes that have leaves ready for pickup that they must remove the leaves from the curb.
If you have leaves, you have a few options. You can the leaves as mulch, move the leaves to another area of your property or take them to the Berrien County Landfill where they will be accepted free of charge.
If the leaves are not removed from the curb, the city will pay for removal and will bill the homeowner.
The Summer Brush Chipping Program will begin in late April. You must make a reservation at 269-683-4700 extension 3062.
If you have any questions, you can contact the Building Safety Division at 269-683-2374 or the Department of Public Works at 683-4700 x 3061.
