St. Joe Med giving women a sweet reason

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is giving women a sweet reason to get a mammogram: free chocolate.

This month, the hospital teamed up with the South Bend Chocolate Factory and every woman who schedules a mammogram on the mobile medical unit gets a candy bar.

The mobile unit stopped by the factory on Monday.

"All women over the age of 40 should have a mammogram every year," said Denise Hammerquist. "The earlier you detect the breast cancer the quicker we can take care of it."

The mobile medical unit is state of the art. It features a medical exam area and space for health education.
