ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.--- The St. Joseph County Department of Health is drafting an ordinance that would fine individuals and business if they refuse to comply with the county’s mask mandate. The fines could range anywhere from $50 to $250.
“We should be creating the ordinance and implementing the ordinance that would give the Department of Health to enforce it,” said Dr. Bob Einternz, St. Joseph County Department of Health’s health officer.
Officials say this move is a way to make sure people continue to wear masks in St. Joseph County until the Coronavirus pandemic is under control.
“Putting a mask on potentially saves somebody’s life,” said Einternz.
