SOUTH BEND -- Thursday night, St. Joseph County Police officers will take a group of children for dinner and shopping.
The children come from families who may be struggling to provide this holiday season. Officers will pick them up from the YWCA, take them to Burger King for dinner and a visit with Santa, and then head to Meijer to pick out gifts.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Bill Redman says this event is one of his favorites. He stopped by ABC57 Thursday morning to explain why.
