St. Joseph County Police honor guard members involved in I-465 crash Monday night

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Two honor guard members from the St. Joseph County Police Department were involved in a crash on I-465 in Indianapolis Monday night, the police department announced.

The police vehicle was stopped in traffic when a black SUV rear-ended a blue pickup truck, sending the pickup into the rear of the police vehicle, according to reports.

The two guard members were traveling back from the funeral services of ILEA Instructor Lt. Brian Ringer when the crash occurred.

No one was injured in the crash.

The driver of the SUV was detained by St. Joseph County officers as he was trying to leave the scene, according to reports.

The driver of the SUV was arrested by Indiana State Police on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
