St. Joseph County to hold free Parent-Child Fishing Derby

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County will be holding a free Parent-Child Fishing Derby.

The catch and release fishing experience will be for kids ages 6 through 10 and their parents.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 18 during Indiana’s Free Fishing Days.

Parents and children are invited to visit St. Patrick’s County Park for the fishing fun.

Participants must check-in at 9 a.m. and fishing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bait and other fishing equipment will be available to families to use.

The event will also give prizes to the children for longest and most fish caught.

Pre-registration is required by May 16 and can be found by visiting the St. Joseph County Parks website.

Other free fishing days will take place on June 1 and June 2.

St. Patrick’s County Park is located on Laurel Road, north of Auten Road in South Bend.
