St. Joseph’s ‘Chalk the Block’ returns August 4-6

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - Chalk the Block, a summertime favorite event in beachside St. Joseph, returns to the city August 4-6 for three days of art along downtown sidewalks.

The event sees both amateur and professional artists chalk the town colorful, covering Broad Street and the Pleasant Street Plaza with their best work.

Artists begin working on their pieces on Friday and work throughout Saturday before unveiling their final products on Sunday.

This year, four artists will demonstrate their talents early, previewing their work beginning August 2.

Eventgoers can even participate themselves, voting for their favorite pieces in the People’s Choice vote. Tickets for that vote can be bought for a dollar per vote at the People’s Choice Tent on Broad Street. Voting is open from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Kids at the event can also join in on the fun with Saturday’s Chalk the Block Kids Zone from noon to 4 p.m. in the Giannola Parking Lot across from Wanderlust Outfitters.

If you’re looking for something to do alongside Chalk the Block, the Downtown Social District runs all weekend for those ages 21 and older.

The St. Joe Farmers Market is also open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lake Bluff Park.

On Saturday night, enjoy a showing of "Remember the Sonic 2" at Milton Park starting at 7:30 p.m.

And finally, Antiques on the Bluff returns to Lake Bluff Park Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
