St. Joseph Township police investigating armed home invasion

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – The St. Joseph Charter Township Police Department is investigating an armed home invasion and reports of breaking and entering attempts on Thursday.

At 7:20 p.m., officers were called to the area of Miami and Cayuga Roads for a suspicious persons report of several people in hooded sweatshirts seen wandering the area.

Shortly after the dispatch, officers responded to an alarm at a residence nearby and found that someone tried to get into the home, according to reports.

During a search of the area, officers discovered another residence that someone tried to get into.

Neither home was broken into, only attempted.

At 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Elm Terrance for an armed home invasion.

Several people got into a residence and held a person at bay with a handgun, reports said.

A vehicle was then stolen from the home.

No one was injured in the invasion.
