St. Mary's students raise money for Riley Hospital for Children with 5K

St. Mary's students held a 5K Saturday morning, to help raise money for the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

This "FT5K" is one of the many events during the year, that help fundraise for the hospital.  Even though the facility is three hours away, it is still an important aspect of the South Bend-area community.

Many local families turn to the hospital to care for and treat the children. Some Riley physicians even make the trek to St. Joseph County, to help give medical care.

These fundraising events are spread throughout the school year, ending with the 12 hour dance marathon at St. Mary's.

Last year, the dance marathon broke their 11 year record, and raised over $100,000 to donate to the hospital.

Students at St. Mary's are hoping to top that number this year.  The 2017 dance marathon will be held April 1.
