Update: Stabbing incident kills one, injures another at Indiana State Prison

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Detectives with the Indiana State Police Department were requested to investigate an assault on two correctional officers at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, leaving one officer dead and another seriously injured.

An inmate attacked two correctional officers in a common area on Sunday around 2:40 p.m., according to troopers. Both officers were transported to the local hospital, where one correctional officer was pronounced dead.

Tymetri Campbell, a 38-year-old inmate at the Michigan City prison, faces several preliminary charges, including murder, as a result of the investigation, troopers said.

Currently, there is no other information to release at this time. All suspects are presumed guilty in a court of law.

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – One employee of the Indiana State Prison died because of a stabbing incident and another sustained injuries Sunday, the Indiana Department of Corrections said.
