Stabbing on W. Western Ave. in downtown South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—South Bend Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing Thursday morning.

Dispatch said that the call came in at 4:10 a.m. for reports of a stabbing on the 600 block of West Western Avenue.

A female victim was injured in the incident and transported to the hospital.

Officers said that they were able to arrest Edward Townsend in connection with the stabbing.

According to police, there was an argument between Townsend and the victim.

A physical fight broke out and the victim was cut with a knife, sustaining injuries to the arm and leg.
