ELKHART, Ind. – One person has died following a stabbing in Elkhart on Wednesday morning, the Elkhart Police Department confirmed.
At 7:55 a.m., police were called to the 2300 block of Cassopolis Street for a report of a fight and a male saying he had been stabbed.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found a male lying outside and suffering from apparent stab wounds, reports said.
The male, identified as 23-year-old Andrew Conley of Elkhart, was given first aid but was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.
A second male in his mid-20’s was detained at the scene and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
He is still in custody.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
There is no immediate threat to the public in connection with the incident.
UPDATE: In February 2023, Jake Brunette was found guilty of murder in the death of Andrew Conley. His sentencing is scheduled for March 9.
