State Police Officer crashes into vehicle on toll road

LaPorte County, IND -- Overnight a police car slammed into a small car sending three people to the hospital including an Indiana State Police trooper.

They are all expected to be alright.

It happened on the toll road, near mile-marker 52.

Police say a cop car hit a Volkswagen Beetle going eastbound on the toll-road. They say the officer was coming through the crossover, and was headed to the maintenance building across the street.

They had shut down part of the road for their investigation.

Police say both cars appeared totaled, and had to be towed from the scene. Everyone involved was wearing their seat-belts.
