Stewart Elementary to close for two days as 31 go into quarantine

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. – Parents received a letter late on Saturday night informing them Stewart Elementary would be temporarily closed due to a teacher testing positive for coronavirus.

The positive case at the elementary has caused 20 students and 11 staff to quarantine themselves due to close contact exposure with this teacher.

The BCHD has recommended that Stewart Elementary close on Monday and Tuesday so that substitutes may be found.

It is also being considered whether the school should have the quarantined teachers instruct remotely from home.

At this time the Health Department has not suggested moving the school to e-learning.
