Stolen vehicle recovery ends in drug arrests in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Four people were arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop in La Porte County Sunday afternoon.

On January 10 at around 1:28 p.m., deputies were notified of a stolen vehicle in the area of U.S. 20 and C.R. 700 East.

The yellow box truck was reported stolen earlier on Sunday morning.

After following the stolen vehicle for some time, officers with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 20 and Fail Road.

Upon initiating the traffic stop, circumstances developed that led to a search of the truck, where drug paraphernalia and a significant amount of illegal drugs were found, deputies said.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the following charges were made against the driver and passengers of the stolen vehicle:

  • Blake Brown:
    • Vehicle Theft 
  • Erica Tawney:
    • Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe
    • Possession of Paraphernalia
  • Jacks Kramer:
    • Dealing in Methamphetamine
    • Possession of a Synthetic Drug/Lookalike Substance
  • Summer Zitt:
    • Dealing in Methamphetamine
    • Possession of a Synthetic Drug/Lookalike Substance
