Students compete in Battle of the Books

Tuesday was the twelfth year for the Battle of the Books at Dickinson Intermediate School in South Bend.

The competition includes students from 10 middle schools.

Students had to read more than 20 books in addition to their regular school work to prepare for the competition.

"Our readers love to read but they rarely get celebrated and this equates reading as important as athletics to a school," said Dee Simpson, Library Media Specialist at Clay Intermediate Center.

LaSalle Academy won first and second place, Dickinson Intermediate won third place.
