Students responsible for threats to Prairie Heights High School identified and expelled

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office reports they were made aware of threats made against Prairie Heights High School and in response, a coordinated investigation was launched involving the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, Prairie Heights Police Department, and the LaGrange County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities say through their efforts, they successfully identified and addressed the juveniles responsible for making the threats.

The students have been expelled from Prairie Heights High School, and the criminal investigation remains active.

Authorities say it was determined there was no immediate threat to students and staff, but the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police, and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will maintain an increased presence at the school as a precautionary measure.

Officials with Prairie Heights High School also made a post via Facebook further explaining it will be up to law enforcement whether criminal charges will be filed against the two students.
