Stuff-a-Bus collects donations for United Way

ELKHART, Ind. – People from around the area dropped by the Martin’s Supermarkets in Elkhart to drop off food donations.

The donations were part of the “Stuff a Bus” event and all of the donations went to the United Way Food Network of Elkhart County.

Customers donated everything from Spaghetti-O’s to paper towels.

“I think you need to be aware that there are people in the community that are suffering and they need a little hand up and this is how we can do it—to provide a little bit of food to get them through,” said Director of Social Services for the Salvation Army Julie Poertner.

Martin’s Supermarkets in St. Joseph County also helped “Stuff a Bus” for the Center for the Homeless.

The annual event is one of the biggest food drives for the center’s pantry.
