Sturgis man arrested following chase in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A Sturgis man was arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a chase on Monday, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Prior to the chase, deputies tried to stop a vehicle on Burr Oak Road, near Clinton Street, for multiple vehicle violations.
Instead, the suspect led deputies on a pursuit, traveling on Ackey Road and through fields before crashing near U.S. 12, reports said. Property was damaged during the chase. Â
The suspect ran from the vehicle before being taken into custody, according to reports.
The 27-year-old Sturgis man was charged on the counts of fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, operating under the influence of drugs, and malicious destruction of property.
