Sturgis shopper has horse and buggy stolen from parking lot

STURGIS, Mich. -- At around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday the Sturgis Police Department received a call from a shopper at the local Walmart who had their horse and buggy stolen while they were shopping inside.

"A truck driver parked in the Walmart lot had seen a female steal the buggy," police said. "A Sturgis police officer located the unoccupied buggy and horse in the 1200 block of E. Chicago Road later in the evening."

The suspect was located at a nearby motel and taken into custody on charges of larceny and larceny of livestock.

The horse was unharmed and returned to the owner, along with the buggy.
