Suspect arrested in bomb threat to Michigan Capitol

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat to the Capitol building.

Officials say charges may be brought Friday against a 48-year-old Charlotte man for the threat made early Thursday that closed the building.

The call came a day after a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the presidential election.

State police cleared employees to return to the Michigan Capitol after conducting a sweep.

Lawmakers are not convening until next week.

The building is closed to the public except during session days due to coronavirus restrictions.
