Suspect charged with felony in connection to fatal hit and run in Mishawaka

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office announced charges against 49-year-old Robert Blankenship in relation to the hit and run on East 12th Street in Mishawaka that left 19-year-old Varinder Singh dead.
Blankenship allegedly left the scene of the February 13 crash on East12th Street that resulted in the death of bicyclist, Singh.
After review, the Prosecutor’s Office has charged Blankenship with one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death to another person, a level four felony.
The sentencing range for a level four felony is two to 12 years.
Documents state Blankenship was ordered to be held without bond until his initial bail hearing, which is expected to occur on February 16.
