Suspect in 2023 shooting on Ashland Avenue pleads guilty to murder

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - One of the suspects in the 2023 murder of a woman on Ashland Avenue pleaded guilty on Wednesday to his role in the crime.

A judge accepted 26-year-old D’Drea Bostic's guilty plea agreement for the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Attempted robbery
  • Firearm enhancement
  • Habitual offender

As part of the agreement, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office dismissed two other counts against Bostic, one for felony murder and the other for burglary.

Bostic is the last of three suspects to plead guilty for their roles in the murder of 46-year-old Rachel Havrick on January 2, 2023.

During the murder, Bostic reportedly pistol-whipped Havrick and shot her after she couldn’t open a gun safe for him and Devon Briggs. Bostic shot Havrick multiple times in front of her juvenile children, police said.

He will be sentenced on March 8.
