Suspects arrested in October 2020 murder

UPDATE: On September 21, Davis was sentenced to 28 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder. Vaughn has a status conference on December 12. 


ORIGINAL STORY:

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unity investigation.

Dijon Marcus Davis, 18 of South Bend, was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County jail today on preliminary suspicion of murder and an outstanding unrelated warrant according to officials.

Darius Jamal Vaughn, 19 of South Bend, was arrested as well and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail today on preliminary suspicion of murder according to officials.

Both were arrested in the connection of a shooting that occurred on October 22, at Waterford Glenn Apartments in South Bend. This shooting resulted in the deaths of Malik Balderos, 21, and Ricky Kinds Jr., 20.

Both arrests are still under review by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, no formal criminal charges have been filed.

These two individuals were arrested on preliminary charges only and they are presumed innocent until and unless charges and convicted in a court of law.
