ELKHART, Ind.-- The two suspects arrested in the Elkhart hit and run that killed three people are no longer listed as active inmates in the Elkhart County Jail, likely meaning they have posted bond.
Penelope Grosswiler and Leonard Grosswiler are facing felony charges for the deadly accident that happened on Beardsley Ave. in August. On Tuesday, the prosecutor announced formal charges against the couple and on Wednesday afternoon they turned themselves in.
Penelope is facing three counts of leaving the scene resulting in death and two counts for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. Both she and Leonard are also facing a charge for obstructing justice.
Penelope’s bond was set at $100,000 and Leonard’s at $10,000, but, we know they would have only had to have paid ten percent of that to be released.
We have reached out to officials for confirmation and will pass along any updates.
