SYRACUSE, Ind. -- The Syracuse Parks and Recreation Department announced on Tuesday that Syracuse Skate Park will be closed until further notice following the vandalism of the park.

The department shared several photos of the park covered in various graffiti, including some profanity.

Officials say this occurred after one day of cleaning up the park.

The park has been around since 2006 when an interested group of young people and their parents decided to build it.

The park was designed for skateboards, in-line skates, and bikes.

Funding for the community park was provided through local fundraisers and grants from area foundations and civic organizations.
