Target has recalled weighted blankets meant for children because of an asphyxiation hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The business recalled about 204,000 Pillowfort Weighted Blankets because a child can unzip the blanket and become trapped inside.

In April 2022, two young girls at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina allegedly became trapped in the cover of the weighted blanket and died from asphyxiation.

Target received two other reports of children getting trapped in the blankets that did not result in death.

The blankets come in eight different prints and were sold from December 2018 through September 2022 for $40.

Customers are asked to stop using the blankets and contact Target immediately for a prepaid return label at 800-440-0680.

Customers will receive a refund of $40 in the form of credit at Target.
