Tayshawn Malczynski pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter in death of Vincenzo Trozzy

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Tayshawn Malczynski pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea agreement for his role in the death of 18-year-old Vincenzo Trozzy, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

On July 28, a jury found 17-year-old Malczynski guilty of attempted murder.

During the trial, the jury was unable to reach a decision on Malczynski's other charges of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and the court declared a mistrial, according to reports.

On Tuesday, Malczynski pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.

As part of the plea agreement, Malczynski also admitted to a firearm enhancement, according to reports.

The prosecutor's office dismissed his charge of attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.

The sentencing range for his attempted murder charge is 20 to 40 years. The sentencing range for his voluntary manslaughter charge is 10 to 30 years. The sentencing range for the firearm enhancement is five to 20 years.

These sentences will be served consecutively.

Sentencing has been scheduled for October 25.
