Teacher accused of giving extra credit for cash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Riley High School teacher is being accused of letting her students pay for extra credit.

Cindy Misener, a US history and economics teacher with more than 30 years of experience allegedly allowed students to pay cash for extra credit.

According to students, Misener originally offered to give them extra credit if they brought in school supplies.

But as the end of the semester approached they asked if they could just give her cash for the credit instead.

She allegedly agreed.

School district superintended Carole Schmidt says they provide sufficient school supplies to all of their teachers.

Misener has been on paid leave for the last three weeks.
