Teacher Appreciation Day with Elkhart County Parks

Elkhart County Park

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart County Parks will be hosting their Second Annual Teacher Appreciation Day at Ox Bow County Park.

From 9 a.m. to Noon on June 23, attendees will be treated to a complimentary pancake breakfast, refreshments, educational resources, giveaways, and special appreciation gifts made possible through the support of community partners and local businesses. Following the success of last year's event, Elkhart County Parks is once again inviting teachers from throughout the region to enjoy a morning of hands-on learning, networking, and appreciation.

Throughout the morning, educators will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive stations that showcase the park system's educational programming, including:

  • Nature Hike
  • Water Insects Investigation
  • Atlatl Demonstration
  • Archaeology Activities
  • Herpetology (Reptiles and Amphibians)
  • Grinding Flour Demonstration
  • Animal Mounts Display
  • One-Room Schoolhouse Activities
  • Information and Resource Station

The event offers teachers a firsthand look at the educational experiences available through Elkhart County Parks and how these programs can support classroom instruction through field trips, outreach opportunities, and place-based learning.

"Teachers inspire curiosity, encourage discovery, and help shape the future of our communities," said the Elkhart County Parks Interpretive Naturalist Team. "We are honored to host this event again and provide educators with an opportunity to explore the resources available to enrich student learning both inside and outside the classroom."

Teachers interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Elkhart County Parks so organizers can make arrangements for food, materials, and appreciation gifts.
