Teenager, dog shot in Elkhart Tuesday night

EKLHART, Ind. – A 17-year-old and a dog were shot along 10th Street in Elkhart Tuesday night, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 8:22 p.m., officers were called to the 1500 block of S. 10th Street for a report of gunshots that went through a window and hit a dog.

A woman said she was in her room with her dog with she heard the shots.

After hearing them, the woman saw her dog had been shot twice, according to reports.

The dog sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

While on scene, officers were informed that a 17-year-old male had gone to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremities.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots.

No arrests have been made at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
