Temporary boil water advisory issued for part of Elkhart, starting Wednesday

ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Ekhart announced a temporary boil water advisory will go into effect on Wednesday for the repair of a water main valve.

The advisory is expected to be in effect until Friday, but the advisory will remain until the city issues a statement it's been lifted.

The repair work will result in a loss of water pressure in the affected area as well.

Customers in the affected area will also be without water between around 8 a.m. to noon.

The affected area is shown in the image above, and is described as:

  • W. Lexington Avenue from Main Street to Lexington Street Bridge
  • N. 5th Street from W. Lexington Avenue to Jefferson Street
  • Moody Avenue from N. 6th Street to N. 5th Street
  • S. 4th Street from W. Lexington Avenue to W. High Street
  • S. 3rd Street from W. Lexington Avenue to W. High Street
  • S. 2nd Street from W. Jackson Boulevard to W. Lexington Avenue

Water from the municipal water system should be boiled for three minutes before use.
