Ten pigs die in rollover crash on I-94 exit ramp

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.—Ten pigs were killed in a rollover crash on an I-94 exit ramp on Wednesday, according to Benton Township Police.

On Wednesday, police responded to a semi-truck rollover at the E. Napier and I-94 westbound exit ramp.

Officers on scene found a semi-tractor and trailer lying on its passenger side.

The semi-truck was hauling approximately 130 pigs.

The male driver of the semi-truck from Wayland, Michigan was not injured in the crash. He told police that while making a left turn on E. Napier from the I-94 westbound exit ramp, the load of pigs shifted within the cattle trailer, which caused the trailer and semi-truck to overturn and partially land on a guardrail.

Ten pigs died in the crash and the rest were loaded onto another trailer.
