The 98th annual South Bend Westside Memorial Day Parade honors fallen veterans

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --Thousands of people will gather along the streets of South Bend's westside to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country.

The 98th annual South Bend Westside Memorial Day Parade made its return to ford street at 8:15 a.m. Floats and walking units traveled East on Ford Street from Lombardy Drive to Olive Street as they pay tribute to fallen veterans.

The parade, lasting approximately an hour and a half, holds this year's theme close to heart with the phrase "Lest We Forget."

Following the parade, a memorial service is scheduled at the St. Joseph cemetery. The service commenced with mass, followed by military honors and the reading of the names of deceased veterans in St. Joseph County for the year.
