SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Jackie Walorski was laid to rest on Thursday as her loved ones, and the community paid their respects to the late Congresswoman.
Walorski's funeral, at Granger community church, included prominent political figures from Indiana and Washington D.C. paying their respects Thursday morning.
“One thing that Jackie lacked was patience. Now, that was because her mind ran faster than what anybody could go to accomplish the things that she came up with," said, Dean Swihart. Walorski's husband "She lacked patience, didn’t like it when we said it. She didn’t like to wait for anything. And I think her impatience has been proved out today, as she just had to beat us all to heaven.”
As the family grieved, they also took comfort in their faith, believing Walorski is in a better place.
After the service, a funeral procession brought Walorski's casket to Southlawn Cemetery.
Walorski was given the honor of a Garrison flag, as well as full military honors as an active member of congress.
