The Humane Society of St. Joseph County hosts Valentine’s Day fundraiser to get over your ‘stinky’ ex
SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --Roses are red, violets are blue, if you have a stinky ex, why don’t you give them poo?
Yes, you heard that right.
From now until Valentine’s Day, the Humane Society of St. Joseph County invites the community to donate $10.
And in return, the name of your ex will be written on a red flag and placed in the kitty litter boxes or the potty areas for dogs at the shelter, making it the purr-fect revenge.
“This is the first year we have ever done it. This is only why we’re doing first names only. We're not trying to get super personal with it. It's fun and lighthearted. We haven’t had any complaints so far. We're doing it in the spirit of raising funds for Humane society of St. Joe County,” Executive Director Genny Brown said.
But it’s not just your ex. You can have your name written on a red heart and placed on an animal's kennel, so they know you're sending them love.
Every dollar raised will go directly towards the shelter.
“Just getting people talking about the shelter and having some lighthearted fun about it. It gets the conversation going. It gets the community involved with the shelter. We have already and hope to grow on it for next year,” Brown said.
Pictures of red flags and hearts will be taken and shared on their social media pages by 5 p.m. on February 14.
Anybody whose forms are submitted after 12 p.m. on Valentine's Day may not see their flags/hearts picture until the following few days.
Brown says you can donate in person or online on their website.
