The Irish coming off a win and bye week to face #16 BYU in the Shamrock Series
SOUTH BEND, Ind – After starting the season on a two game losing streak, Notre Dame is on a two game winning streak after a 45-32 win over North Carolina.
“We know we have a extremely difficult opponent coming up and we're looking forward to it. Obviously, the shamrock series is what makes Notre Dame unique,” said Head Coach Marcus Freeman.
Keeping the win streak alive won’t be an easy task coming off a bye week, after beating a talented Tar Heels team, to facing the BYU Cougars.
A team that ranks in the top 40 in offense and defense.
“You want to build off the momentum. But, you know, to me, it's the challenge to really reevaluate and reassess where you are after each game, right,” Freeman added.
The Irish beat North Carolina 45-32 in Chapel Hill.
Both sides of the ball clicking on all cylinders.
But just like the preparation for UNC, the defense needs to prepare to start the game without team captain and linebacker JD Bertrand who is suspended for the first half due a targeting call, for the second week in a row.
“No, they said that in our in our opinion, that was a targeting penalty.
I'll save my opinion. But, yeah, we felt like we had a strong appeal. And it was denied,” Freeman mentioned.
The junior linebacker had an immediate impact on the game in the second half putting pressure on the opposing offense.
Now it comes down to the team executing for 60 minutes, while trying not to be distracted in the busy streets of Las Vegas.
They got the Head Coach, I’ll be doing bed check at 8:30 pacific time on Friday night, so I’m not too concerned.
Notre Dame will take on #16BYU will play Saturday at 7:30pm Eastern.
