BENTON HARBOR, Mich – Benton Harbor Area Schools took steps towards selecting a new Superintendent to lead the school district in the future.
Tuesday’s special school board meeting saw school trustees meet with employment agency Ray & Associates about what the district wants in the future Superintendent.
“We need someone who can hit the ground running,” school board trustee Dr. Patricia Rush said.
Some of the qualifications the school district would like the future superintendent to have included having a master’s degree level education or higher, prior experience in K-12 education and proven leadership skills.
The school board and Ray & Associates would like to include input from the community along with producing an online survey.
“We’ve got a timeline that we work through. I think it’s a great process to get input from both board members and from the community,” Ray & Associates Consultant Lane Plugge said.
The school district plans on hiring a superintendent by the end of December.
