The Silver Hawks hold kids day at The Cove

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Monday, Michiana students skipped class for a baseball game and their teachers got to go along for the fun.

The Silver Hawks welcomed several local schools for kids' day at The Cove.

Students traded in pencils for peanuts and Cracker Jacks while South Bend hosted the West Michigan White Caps Monday morning.

"Although we still have to go to our last 2 periods, it's kind of awesome being here," said Shaun Calhoun, freshman at Penn High School.

The Silver Hawks beat the White Caps 6-2.

Their next home game is Friday night against Dayton.
