ELKHART, Ind. -- The Taste of Africa event took place at the Tolson Center in Elkhart, showing off handmade African clothes, food, and jewelry to represent customs from the country of Zimbabwe.
Stands and tables were filled with different customary accessories from Zimbabwe. Showing off authentic items such as clothing, utensils, art, sculptures, jewelry, religious items, and food stands that allowed people to try traditional African cuisine.
Other festivities included live music and a fashion show to present the clothing they worked so hard to create.
The event vendors hope to inspire adults and children with influencing individuals that there is a place for everyone.
"My work is grounded in hoping that for people of color, for everyone, that there's going to be a fire future ahead, as well as knowing that every individual person has something unique about them." said artist Oscar Joyo.
