MICHIANA – Indiana Michigan Power reported thousands of power outages on Saturday.
Indiana Michigan Power, or I & M, had over 31,000 customer outages reported for their company in Indiana and Michigan.
I & M said their South Bend District was experiencing outages for around 5,600. Elkhart had about 1,300 outages and South Bend reported having around 4,300.
The Michigan District reported 8,000 outages for Benton Harbor, 1,900 for Three Rivers, and 5,300 for Buchanan.
Most of the outages, downed power lines, and fallen trees were caused very high winds.
The company is working to get the power restored for its customers.
They also caution people to be aware of the hazards in this storm. Downed wires should always be treated as if they are dangerous and should be avoided. They said to watch for wires that could be touching fences or hidden under downed trees and debris.
Customers should contact I & M directly if they need to report an outage. Any downed wires can be reported by calling the company at 800-311-4634.
