Summer Concert Series brings tunes to Potawatomi Park
LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – With the reopening of many public venues as part of Governor Eric Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana plan, the Indiana Dunes National Park saw thousands of people on Memorial Day. Social distancing is still in place across the state, but according to officials it was difficult to enforce with so many in attendance.
"We came on motorcycles and it was backed up four to five miles so we ended up just leaving and going to Michigan City for a bite to eat. Most of them were Illinois license plates. Makes sense. From Chicago probably," said Chris Tsampis, a visitor to the beach.
Park Rangers say dozens of cars were parked illegally because all the normal spots were full.
