Three arrested following multi-agency operation in Mishawaka, guns and drugs seized

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department reports their Warrants Division, along with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force and the South Bend Police Department’s Strategic Focus Unit completed a weeks-long investigation with a successful operation at a home in the 800 block of W. Douglas Road in Mishawaka on Tuesday.

The report states officers approached the home, and the door opened revealing 22-year-old Ernesto Santiago, who quickly shut the door and retreated inside.

Police then began calling for Ernesto to exit the home.

Authorities say after a few minutes, five people exited the home.

Two of the five were found to have active arrest warrants out of St. Joseph County.

Officers then obtained a search warrant, leading to the discovery of seven firearms, one of which was stolen, drugs, and ammunition inside the home.

Ernesto was wanted for four counts of Felony Theft, Felony Auto Theft, and Theft. He was also formally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun with a prior Felony Conviction.

Twenty-two-year-old Darvel Grady was wanted for Intimidation and was also formally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun with a prior Felony Conviction.

Twenty-one-year-old Jeremid Santiago was formally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun with a prior Felony Conviction.
