Three blood donation opportunities for August

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Spectrum Health Lakeland has announced the times and locations for three blood drives they will be hosting during the month of August.

Along with the Versiti Blood Center of Michigan, the August community blood drives include:

• Monday, August 9 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Spectrum Health Lakeland Watervliet Hospital, located at 400 Medical Park Drive

• Tuesday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, located at 1234 Napier Avenue

• Wednesday, August 18 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Spectrum Health Lakeland Niles Hospital, located at 31 North St. Joseph Avenue

“In a medical emergency, often the most important element is the availability of blood. There is no substitute for human blood, and we are relying on our friends and neighbors to roll up their sleeves and donate to help save lives,” said Joe Brown, Director of Laboratory Services at Spectrum Health Lakeland.

These blood drives welcome individuals 17 and older who are not experiencing symptoms of the flu or a cold.

16-year-olds may also donate blood with the written permission of a parent or guardian.

Donors are required to bring photo ID and must wear a face mask.

To register in advance for any of these blood drives, ensuring a shorter wait time, call 866-642-5663 or visit here.
